The Register – Microsoft: You don’t want to use Edge? Are you sure? Really sure?

Windows 10 preview build app suggestions attract internet’s ire by Richard Speed posted 12 Sep 2018 at 15:12

Original story available at https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/09/12/microsoft_windows_10_app_suggestions/

“Microsoft really wants you to use Edge in the latest Windows Insider builds, and the software giant is not afraid to let you know it.”

It’s bad enough there is a popup in the current version of Windows 10 (v1803) that when you go into Settings / Apps / Default Apps / Web Browser and select a different browser that asks ‘Are you sure?’ with the default action being to stay with Edge.

As a Windows Systems Administrator I can’t set a global default, I have to set defaults per user.

In the latest preview of Windows, apparently when you run the Firefox installer Windows prompts you to stick with Microsoft Edge.

If you are looking for an alternative to the adverspamdisplayingsystem that Windows is devolving into, give us a call. Linux may be the solution.
